As we mark the 2nd anniversary of Onramp.money this September, we reflect on an incredible journey filled with innovation, growth, and community support. From our humble beginnings to becoming a trusted gateway in the crypto world, the ascent of Onramp.money has been nothing short of remarkable.
The idea of making this incredible solution available to the public came to life in September 2022. We aimed to make crypto accessible to everyone in India. Despite being the largest web3 market in terms of crypto adoption, India lacked a traditional payment gateway capable of serving crypto platforms a fundamental need for any web3 project or user.
We realized this issue wasn’t unique to India; many of the world’s largest web3 markets faced similar challenges. That’s when we established a dedicated global expansion team to identify and solve problems in different markets related to purchasing and selling crypto. The key issues we focused on were the effort involved in purchasing crypto, the cost associated with each fiat-to-crypto on-chain transaction, and transaction speed.
The team worked diligently on these factors while ensuring full compliance with regulations. Thanks to the exceptional efforts of our expansion and tech teams, we went live with support for over 20 fiat currencies in 40+ countries. Now, purchasing crypto is as easy as buying groceries.
Not only did we simplify and expedite crypto purchases, but we also streamlined the process of selling crypto, making it simple, easy, and instant.
We can’t overlook the significant integration that brought Onramp to the attention of many in the web3 community: the MetaMask integration, launched in February 2023.
Ventures like Algorand Foundation and FunFair Ventures joined us along the way, supporting our mission and believing in our capabilities.
We have provided services to a wide range of web3 projects, including wallets like MetaMask, Telegram Messenger, Ledger, Coinbase Wallet; exchanges like KuCoin Exchange, Jupiter Exchange, Bybit, Bitget, BingX; and various DApps, NFT platforms, onramp aggregators, and crypto projects with tokens.
We support every project looking to simplify the first step of onboarding users to crypto — purchasing crypto with fiat — and the last step — selling crypto and safely depositing fiat into bank accounts. Throughout this journey, we have ensured strict compliance with legal requirements, following a simple yet rigorous KYC process.
Onramp not only engages in B2B2C business but also serves a direct user base, allowing anyone to buy crypto from Onramp.money and have it automatically deposited into their chosen wallet.
